Comprehensive Eye Exams

In a comprehensive examination, Dr. Oglesby assesses your visual system to determine if any deficiencies exist. Deficiencies can result in blurred vision and/or discomfort while uncorrected visual problems in young children can result in Amblyopia or a lazy eye. Dr. Oglesby performs a variety of tests in order to determine the state of your ocular health. Conditions that he tests for include, but are not limited to, the following:

He also treats many eye conditions including glaucoma, infections, allergies, abrasions, foreign bodies and dry eye syndrome. Many visual problems can be corrected with glasses, contact lenses, or laser vision correction and Dr. Oglesby will help you determine which options are right for you.

You will find we truly enjoy helping you create your own personal image. Whether you want a spectacular new look with one of our designer frames, designer sunglasses or the latest innovations in contact lens technology, our experienced and knowledgeable Eye Team will be there for your personalized fitting.

Does my Child need an exam?

We are often asked when a child should have their first exam. A comprehensive eye exam is an extremely important assessment of your child’s health and vision.

At around 6 months, your child’s pediatrician will check their vision and recommend a visit with a pediatric vision specialist if there is a concern.  It is highly recommended for your child to have a comprehensive vision exam around the age of 4-5, before they enter school.

Although our office is not a pediatric facility, we are equipped to see children for their pre-school comprehensive exam.

Even if your child has shown no signs of vision problems, this exam is needed to determine the overall eye health and rule out many medical issues that can be present with no signs of visual disturbance. Some vision problems need to be detected and corrected as early as possible, while the child’s vision is still developing.

Often poor academic performance can be avoided by appropriate vision exams.  As parents and caregivers we want to give our kids every opportunity to succeed! We are here to serve those eye care needs and look forward to adding your child to our eye care family!
